Join Rising Voices
Rising Voices is a restorative justice theater ensemble of formerly incarcerated young women sharing their stories. No performing experience is necessary, just a desire to write and share your work on stage.
Are you a woman, 18-25 years old, who has been locked up?
Are you interested in writing and performing?
Would you like to get PAID for it?
Women are paid a $24 stipend per rehearsal/workshop and $25 per performance. As part of the program, Rising Voices ensemble members work with the Women Rising Case Manager and attend the Women Rising weekly group. Rising Voices meets from 2-4 pm twice a week at the Women’s Resource Center (930 Bryant St.)
Workshops/rehearsals begin each November. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
Ensemble members must live in San Francisco and be able to make a seven-month commitment to Rising Voices.
