Sandra Santana

Program Manager, RCC: MIR

Why do you do what you do?

I do what I do because I believe justice should be in the hands of the community. I believe that people should not be thrown away and forgotten in prisons, but that they should be embraced and held accountable by their community. I believe that when folks who have harmed are allowed a chance to be welcomed back into their communities and held accountable by folks they care about then it allows for communities to thrive and heal.

As a Program Manager for RCC/Make It Right, I support my team of Restorative Justice Coordinators, looking at new and innovative ways to support our youth and families. I also build and strengthen relationships with our community partners and look at data trends to ensure we are meeting the needs of those we serve. Before this I was working in youth justice and advocacy as a case manager at Huckleberry’s CARC, and have spent the last 10 years focused on youth advocacy and child development in after school programs such as the Boys and Girls Clubs of San Francisco.

When I’m not at CW, I’m usually spending time with my husband and rescue chihuahua Chiquita, or playing copious amounts of video games.
