Norhan Abolail

Conference Coordinator

Why do you do what you do?

I feel passionate about reforming the criminal justice system and challenging its utilization of punishment to address systemic inequalities. I am an advocate for implementing an alternative to the traditional system by providing a trauma-informed, preventative-care approach that identifies and addresses the risk factors that often lead to cycles of criminality.
As a Make it Right Coordinator, I work directly with youth ages 12-18 and support them in taking accountability for their actions and repairing harm within their community. My work provides an opportunity for restorative justice diversion as an alternative to the traditional criminal justice system. Before coming to CW, I was a counselor at a residential therapeutic program for foster youth. In this role, I provided trauma-informed care and counseling to high-risk and system-involved youth.

When I’m not at CW
, you might find me visiting Santa Cruz, going on hikes, thrifting, or spending time with my friends.
