ProjectWHAT! 20th Anniversary Special Edition: Two Decades of Youth Power
This special edition celebrates twenty years of ProjectWHAT! (We’re Here And Talking), a journey defined by the courage of young people reshaping how the world understands the impact of parental incarceration. From a local grassroots initiative in San Francisco to an international standard for justice, we are honoring the legacy of the Children of Incarcerated Parents (CIP) Bill of Rights.
Celebrating 20 Years of Impact: Since 2006, PW has served over 200 youth, partnered with 60 schools, and trained over 1,600 service providers on how to be better adult allies. We are lucky to work alongside these youth, who are the true subject matter experts.
The PW 20th Anniversary Pop Out: On March 14th, our newly activated SF Restorative Hub hosted a landmark celebration. The event featured a Historical Art Gallery showcasing two decades of youth stories, a Zine Station where attendees created their own versions of PW curriculum, and a powerful Youth Panel.
Movement Champion Awards: We are proud to recognize the alumni who continue to lead our mission:
Legacy in Action Award: Recipient Kyle Magallanes Castillo, PW alum and Co-Executive Director of Community Works.
Voice and Visionary Award: Recipient Jakaela Foster, PW alum and Program Coordinator.
Voice for the Voiceless Award: Recipient Tony Shavers, PW alum, author, and personal development coach.
PW Youth is Hiring: The current cohort is finishing the year strong by spreading awareness and recruiting for our PW Summer Cohort. Join us in continuing this vital work.
Invest in the Future: Help us send our 17-person delegation to the NACRJ Conference in New Orleans this July. Your support ensures our young leaders continue to influence the national conversation on restorative justice. Read More…
