March 2026 Newsletter

Welcome to The Circle: Community Works March 2026 Newsletter!

This March, in honor of Women’s History Month, we are lifting up the restorative vision of two women who are quite literally painting, weaving, and flying a new future for our community. As we roll out our new strategic vision, we are proud to announce that the arts are back—not just as a program, but as an integral thread woven into every soul we touch.

  • Restoring the Heart of CW: Meet Dee Morizono, a foundational force at Community Works for over 20 years. Dee is spearheading a shift away from art as a “commodity” toward a model of reciprocal partnership, using collective creativity to repair the harm of isolation and systemic injustice.

  • The Art of Global Solidarity: Artist Taima Dugan is redefining our entryway at the SF Restorative Hub as a “third cultural space”. Drawing on her Palestinian heritage and the technical “kites” used for communication in prisons, she facilitates a vibrant horizon where the invisible is finally made visible.

  • Under the Same Sky: Our soaring new installation, inspired by the late Refaat Alareer’s poem “If I Must Die,” features kites created by participants across all CW programs. These kites connect our ancestral foundations to future generations, reminding us that we all live under the same sky.

  • ProjectWHAT! 20th Anniversary Pop Out: The celebration continues on March 14th at our SF Restorative Hub. Join us for a historical art gallery, a story showcase from youth advocates, and a movement to honor two decades of turning visibility into power.

Invest in Humanity: Your support directly empowers the next generation of justice leaders to take their place on the national stage. Join us in investing in their journey and the restorative arts that make our collective hope take flight. Read More…Part One & Part Two.
